Oh, the joy of knowing that the believer is “accepted in the Beloved” and that the position and privilege of each believer, through their earthly pilgrimage, is that of: “Leaning upon the Beloved.” Song of Sol. 8:5⁵Who is this that cometh up from the wilderness, leaning upon her beloved? I raised thee up under the apple tree: there thy mother brought thee forth: there she brought thee forth that bare thee. (Song of Solomon 8:5).

“Listening to the Beloved.” S. of Sol. 2:8⁸The voice of my beloved! behold, he cometh leaping upon the mountains, skipping upon the hills. (Song of Solomon 2:8).

“Speaking well of the Beloved.” S. of Sol. 5:10-16¹⁰My beloved is white and ruddy, the chiefest among ten thousand. ¹¹His head is as the most fine gold, his locks are bushy, and black as a raven. ¹²His eyes are as the eyes of doves by the rivers of waters, washed with milk, and fitly set. ¹³His cheeks are as a bed of spices, as sweet flowers: his lips like lilies, dropping sweet smelling myrrh. ¹⁴His hands are as gold rings set with the beryl: his belly is as bright ivory overlaid with sapphires. ¹⁵His legs are as pillars of marble, set upon sockets of fine gold: his countenance is as Lebanon, excellent as the cedars. ¹⁶His mouth is most sweet: yea, he is altogether lovely. This is my beloved, and this is my friend, O daughters of Jerusalem. (Song of Solomon 5:10‑16).

“Fruit-bearing for the Beloved.” S. of Sol. 4:16¹⁶Awake, O north wind; and come, thou south; blow upon my garden, that the spices thereof may flow out. Let my beloved come into his garden, and eat his pleasant fruits. (Song of Solomon 4:16).

“Longing for the appearance of the Beloved.” S. of Sol. 8:4⁴I charge you, O daughters of Jerusalem, that ye stir not up, nor awake my love, until he please. (Song of Solomon 8:4).
