 In his mad impiety he also dares to take the ground of open defiance. (Compare Rev. 13:5-6). As a consequence—for he that hates God must also hate His people—he will “wear out the saints of the high places” (he “made war with the saints, and prevailed against them,” verse 21) in his presumptuous effort to destroy the name of God from off the face of the earth.  This little horn will “think to change times and laws: and they shall be given into his hand.” At this period the Jewish temple will have been rebuilt, though in unbelief; and in connection with it the ordinances of the law and the various feasts will have been established. These are the “times and laws” which this king will think to change, that is, to abrogate, because their very existence. (Daniel 7 by E. Dennett)
 He will succeed in their abolition; for they (not the saints, but the times and laws) “will be given into his hand.” (Daniel 7 by E. Dennett)
 He who will allow His people to be cast into the burning fiery furnace of persecution, will determine the limit of the power of the enemy: it will only be for a time and times, and the dividing of time, the 1260 days, the forty-two months, the three years and a half of the book of Revelation.
