• “A vile person” (Dan. 11:21), who has been specially chosen as the type of the Assyrian, or the king of the north, of the last days. It is for this reason that his career is given with such detail, occupying the whole paragraph contained in verses 21-35. This “vile person” is known in history as Antiochus Epiphanes, and he commenced his reign about 175 B.C. (“Daniel 11” by E. Dennett)
