I have a burden on my heart this afternoon.
To.
Speak of.
God is the Creator.
Lord Jesus as the Creator.
And.
Read a number of passages.
Let's start with.
The 38th chapter of Job.
Geld 38.
Then the Lord answered Job out of the whirlwind, and said, Who is this that darkeneth counsel by words without knowledge?
Gird up now thy loins like a man, for I will demand of thee, and answer thou me.
And now he asks Job a series of questions.
He could ask us these same questions. Where was thou?
When I laid the foundations of the earth.
Declare if thou hast understanding.
Who hath laid the measures thereof, if thou knowest?
Or who hath stretched the line upon it?
Whereupon are the foundations thereof fashioned?
Or who had laid the cornerstone thereof?
When the morning stars sang together.
And all the sons of God shouted for joy.
I believe the sons of God here are the angels.
And this would indicate that's why I've read this passage.
That the angels were there to celebrate.
The uh.
Laying of the foundations of the Earth.
Where was thou? Where was I? Where were you when all this took place? Well, we didn't exist yet.
No man did.
And this book.
This precious book.
Is the only book that we have.
That tells us.
From the one who was there.
The one who did it, what he did.
He doesn't give us every detail.
As to how he did it?
But He gives us enough to know that He is the Creator.
And we're not here by chance.
And we will see as we look at the Word of God.
That.
It's impossible to believe the word of God and to believe the lie of Satan, which is.
Evolution.
Impossible to harmonize those two.
I believe this has been in the last century when the truth was recovered to the church.
There were immediately the enemy raised up opposing religious movements like Russellism, the Jehovah's Witnesses and Mormonism, Joseph Smith and and I think his crowning 1 was The Origin of Species by Charles Darwin.
Now, evolution is not new. It's.
It's been around for a long time, goes all the way back to Babylon.
The false religions that men have devised, what is has already been, and what is shall be, and the circle goes around and around. There's nothing new under the sun.
This is the only book that tells us the answer to three very important questions. I can't help but think of our brother Bob Brimlow as I say these three because he often repeated them.
Where did we come from?
Why are we here?
And where are we going? This book answers all these questions, and it's the only book that does.
Where did we come from? How did we get here?
By some chance, 'cause no.
By the direct act of the creator.
And so Jehovah asked some questions here of Job, and of course he could not answer.
He had boasted if he only had an audience with the Lord, he would plead his cause and so on. And when he got that audience, he ends by saying, I'll lay my hand upon my mouth. I have spoken that which I did not know.
And one of the things you'll learn as you get older is the more you know, the more you realize how little you know.
It's the one that doesn't know much that thinks he knows a lot.
But as we get on in years, we realize how much we don't know.
But it's it's not so much what you know, it's who you know.
00:05:00
And if you know the Lord Jesus, you have the right person.
Turn to the 40th chapter of Isaiah.
Isaiah 40.
Verse 12.
Who hath measured?
The waters in the hollow of his hand.
And meted out heaven with the span.
And comprehended the dust of the earth in a measure, and weighed the mountains in scales, and the hills in the balance.
Who hath directed the Spirit of the Lord, or being his counselor, hath taught him?
With whom took he counsel?
And who instructed him, and taught him in the path of judgment, and taught him knowledge, and showed to him the way of understanding?
Behold, the nations are as a drop of a bucket.
And are counted as the small dust of the balance.
Behold, he taketh up the aisles as a very little thing.
And Lebanon is not sufficient to burn, nor the beasts thereof sufficient for a burnt offering. All the nations before him are as nothing.
And they are counted to him less than nothing.
And vanity.
To whom then will you liken God?
There's no I don't know though. There's another chapter that brings out the majesty of God, like this chapter in Isaiah.
Majesty of God. Greatness of God.
And the insignificance and the puniness of man, he thinks so much of himself is filled with pride, filled with thoughts of him, of his own achievement. And as far as we can judge, man has achieved some pretty good things, especially in the last century.
But compared with this one who knows everything?
Whose understanding is infinite?
Man is nothing.
And man does not know how we got here. He has his theories and that's all they are. They are the flimsy spinnings of a mind that is not subject to the Word of God.
And if one is not subject to God's Word, there's no light in him.
He has. He's in darkness still, and he's making guesses.
I'll never forget the time after I had recently gotten saved and I had heard the the statement made repeatedly in school that evolution is approved science.
You see, the God of the 20th century is science.
Possibly so-called.
You can't challenge science. After all, a scientist knows what he's talking about, and this is the attitude that people have. And according to the scientists, evolution is proven.
Well, that's a lie.
That is a blatant, unmitigated lie.
Evolution is.
Is not true.
And.
It has a.
Going to school, some of our young people and we seem so determined that they get a higher education.
That higher education is sometimes a very diabolical education.
It's like throwing our children into a den of Vipers and asking the Lord that they don't bite them.
I would say the citadels of infidelity are the higher institutions in our lands, they began.
With a Christian motive, most of them.
But all how that has all changed.
It's not easy to go through school unscathed.
Not nowadays, because if positiveness of assertion proves the professor's point, it's proven because he's dead sure of himself and he's dead wrong when it comes to moral and spiritual issues when it comes to the creation.
Can you think of anything more ridiculous?
Then that disordered universe, this cosmos, which means an ordered system of things, came out of an explosion.
And yet that's a theory that has been advanced by supposedly intellectual people.
It's a solemn thing to.
Turn away from God.
You do that, you're turning away from the one who who knows the truth and whom the truth reveals to us.
Turn back with me to Genesis 1.
I was thinking of this yesterday when the brother made the statement that someone said to him that heaven is not in the Bible.
The very first verse speaks of the heaven.
00:10:02
In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth.
In the beginning, this is one of the most sublime verses in all of Scripture.
And I want to look at it a bit.
Because this is the most attacked passage in all of the Bible. You see, all you have to do to disprove the Bible is to disprove any part of it.
Especially a foundation.
Such as we have in the book of Genesis, the book of beginnings. It lays the foundation for the whole Bible.
And so attack it.
Those are the tactics of the enemy.
And where it's attacked is in our institutions of learning.
It's attacked.
Relentlessly.
And dismissed as a fairy tale, this is an account, God's account of how he did it.
What he did doesn't give us every specific detail, but it it gives us some very wonderful principles of truth.
Let's quickly read the chapter. In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth.
And the earth was without form, and void, and darkness was upon the face of the deep, And the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters. And God said, let there be light, and there was light.
And God saw the light, that it was good, and God divided the light from the darkness. And God called the light day, and the darkness he called night.
And the evening in the morning were the first day.
And God said, Let there be a firmament in the midst of the waters, and let it divide the waters from the waters. And God made the firmament, and divided the waters which were under the firmament from the waters which were above the firmament. And it was so.
And God called the firmament heaven, and the evening and the morning were the second day.
And God said, Let the waters unto the heaven be gathered together unto one place, and let the dry land appear, And it was so.
And God called the dry land earth, and the gathering together of the waters called he sees, and God saw that it was good.
And God said, Let the earth bring forth grass, the herb yielding seed, and the fruit tree yielding fruit, after his kind, whose seed is in itself upon the earth. And it was so.
And the earth brought forth grass and herb, yielding seed after his kind.
And the tree yielding fruit whose seed was in itself after his kind, and God saw that it was good. I just pause.
We've read that expression a number of times already. We'll read it many more in the chapter after his kind.
If you believe Genesis 1, you can't believe evolution.
Because God says that everything came after its kind. After its kind. It didn't evolve from one form to another, or from one species to another, I should say.
Verse 13 Now in the evening. In the morning were the third day.
And God said, Let there be lights in the firmament of the heaven to divide the day from the night, and let them be for signs, and for seasons, and for days and years, and let them be for lights in the firmament of the heaven, to give light upon the earth. And it was so.
And God made 2 great lights, the greater light to rule the day and the lesser light to rule the night. He made the stars also.
And God set them in the firmament of the heaven, to give light upon the earth, and to rule over the day and over the night, and to divide the light from the darkness. And God saw that it was good.
And the evening in the morning were the 4th day.
And God said that the waters bring forth abundantly the moving creature that hath life, and fowl that may fly above the earth in the open firmament of heaven. And God created great whales, and every living creature that moveth, which the waters brought forth abundantly after their kind.
And every winged fowl after his kind, and God saw that it was good, And God blessed them, saying, Be fruitful, and multiply, and fill the waters and the seas.
And let's follow, multiplying the earth in the evening, in the morning with a fifth day.
And God said that the earth brings forth the living creature after his kind, cattle, and creeping thing, and beast of the earth after his kind. And it was so. And God made the beast of the earth after his kind, and cattle after their kind, and everything that creepeth upon the earth after his kind. And God saw that it was good.
And God said, Let us make man in our image after our likeness, and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth.
So God created man in his own image, and the image of God created him. Male and female created he them.
And God blessed them, and God said unto them, Be fruitful, and multiply and replenish the earth, and subdue it, and have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over every living thing that moveth upon the earth.
00:15:00
And God said, Behold, I have given you every herb bearing seed which is upon the face of all the earth, and every tree in the which is the fruit of a tree yielding seed to you, it shall be for meat.
And to every beast of the earth, and to every fowl of the air, and to everything that creepeth upon the earth wherein there is life, I have given every green herb for meat. And it was so.
And God saw everything that he had made.
And behold, it was very good.
And the evening in the morning were the 6th day. Thus the heavens and the earth were finished, and all the hosts of them. And on the 7th day God ended his work which He had made. And He rested on the 7th day from all his work which he had made. And God blessed the 7th day, sanctified it, because that in it he had rested from all his work which God created and made.
Now before I comment on this.
Turn to Hebrews 11.
Hebrews, Chapter 11.
Verse one.
Now faith is the substance, the substantiating, or the assurance of things hoped for.
The evidence or the conviction of things not seen?
By it, the elders obtained a good report. Through faith we understand that the world, that's an expression, it's a Hebrewism for the universe.
The world's were framed. Ordered. Not chaos, not the result of some explosion, but a perfectly ordered cosmos. That's the thought behind this word. The world's were framed by the Word of God.
So that the things which are seen were not made of things which do appear. It's almost like a repetitive redundancy. The things which are seen were not made of things which are seen.
Things which are seen were not made of.
Things which do appear, that is when God created the universe.
There was a point in time, I don't know how else to put it because it was before time.
Before time began, there was only God.
God in Trinity, the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit. He was light and He who is love. No other creature. The angelic hosts were evidently created first because it says the morning stars sang together and all the sons of God shouted for joy when the earth's foundation was laid.
But then Genesis 11, in the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth. I've made that plural. I think that's more correct, the heavens and the earth. But that's a vast universe, all the stars, the constellations, the galaxies.
In the beginning. The beginning of anything that had a beginning.
That was the beginning of time.
God created the heavens and the earth and what this verse in Hebrews 11/3 says through faith we understand the only way we can understand it. Man does not understand how things got here.
Man does not understand that he's got his theories, he's got his guesses, and they're all wrong. Everyone is wrong that isn't founded on the Scriptures. When you hear everything, when you hear anything in school, young people, test it. Test these statements that are made by your professors and teachers by the word of God.
If it's not according to the word of God, it's wrong. You can dismiss it as error.
Because man does not know he wasn't there but questioned that the Lord put to Joe. Where were you when I founded the earth? Where were you when I established these things? Well, we didn't exist yet. The only one that knows how it was done is the one who did it.
That is God.
And he has told us we have here the most precious legacy you can you can give to man the word of God.
But he spoke.
And he brought the worlds into existence by faith. We understand that the worlds were framed, ordered, set in place by the Word of God.
God commanded.
And it was done. He spoke and he was done. He commanded, and it stood fast.
We understand that everything was formed.
By the word of God, now we can't conceive of a of a being so powerful as to speak this vast universe to us. It's vast.
To God it's not.
He's infinitely above it, beyond it.
But to us, puny man, it's vast.
We talk about millions of light years and all that.
To God, that is nothing.
He spoke it into existence in a moment.
Things which are seen were not made of things which appear, that is, they came out of, not out of other matter.
00:20:01
What we see, everything we see around us, material things didn't come from material things. It came from that which does not appear. It came from God himself. Sometimes it is said that God created the universe out of nothing. Well, that's not correct, because there was never nothing. There was always God.
Created the universe out of and from himself.
And don't ask me to explain that.
Because these things are beyond us.
But that's what the Word of God tells us. God spoke and it was done. He commanded and it stood fast.
Going back to the first chapter of Hebrews for a moment.
Just read a few verses. God, who at sundry times and in diverse manners spake and.
Time passed unto the fathers by the prophets, hath in these last days, or at the end of these days, when Messiah was to be introduced, he spoken unto us in the person of his Son.
Whom He hath appointed heir of all things, by whom also He made the world. There you have that expression again. The world's the ordered universe.
Who being the brightness of His glory and the express image of His person, and upholding all things by the word of His power.
The upholding all things by the word of His power.
There's a verse in the.
Job turned back to Job for a moment.
I think it's job 34 job.
I can't be 34. I know I'm in the wrong job. 34 and verse.
14.
I'm going to read this as it is in the new translation by Mr. Darby.
If he only thought of himself.
And he gathered unto himself, his spirit in his breath.
All flesh should perish together, and man should turn again unto the dust.
If God was like we are self-centered being only thinking of himself.
And gathered to him man's breath.
And spirit, you would perish all flesh.
Would perish together, so frail is man.
So subject to being extinguished in a moment.
The very next breath you take comes from him, and if he doesn't give it to you, you die.
He upholds all things by the word of his power. The very breath that the atheist and the agnostic and the denier of God takes to do that comes from God.
Comes from his creator.
All things come from him.
Now let's go back to.
Genesis 1.
Going to have to abbreviate this because of the time.
Verse one of Genesis 1. Very sublime, profound majestic statement in the beginning God.
God in Trinity, Elohim, God in Trinity, Father, Son and Holy Spirit created the heavens.
And the earth, the heavens, and there's two spheres mentioned in that verse, the heavens. And then there's the sphere of the earth. Then the second verse describes the earth only of the two spheres mentioned in verse one, the second verse says and the earth was without form and void, New translation, waste and empty.
To Hebrew words tohu and bohu.
Waste and empty, without form and void and darkness was upon the face of the deep, and the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters. Here we have the earth in darkness, covered with water, waters of judgment.
Two times in the history of this world, the history of the earth has been covered with water, here and at the flood.
Here and at the flood, we know that the flood, when it was covered with water, it was a result of judgment, and so here as well.
Verse 2 does not describe the earth as it was originally created from the hand of God.
He who is light does not create the very opposite of himself.
A scene in darkness.
We're not told.
How long between verses 1 and 2?
We're not told.
But something happened to this Earth.
Plunging it into this chaotic, ruined state described in verse 2.
The earth was without form and void, waste and empty.
00:25:00
Darkness was upon the face of the deep, the whole earth covered with water, waters of judgment.
And darkness, the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters, and God said, let there be light, and there was light. Day one of Genesis one starts with verse 3. It does not start with verse one as some have erroneously taught who are Christians, but they're wrong.
They're wrong. How can I be so positive the way to interpret scripture is by scripture itself?
These two Hebrew words tohu and bohu without form and void or wasted, empty are found only two other passages in Scripture together, those two words together.
Who are waste or without form is found once and will quickly look at them. I don't have time to read the whole chapter, but look at Isaiah 34.
To prove from scripture that the state described of the earth in Genesis 1/2 is not as it originally came from the hand of God.
Isaiah 34.
He's talking about the land of Edom.
Verse 6 The sword of the Lord is filled with blood. It is made fat with fatness and with the blood of lambs and goats with the fat of the kidneys of Rams. For the Lord hath a sacrifice in Bozrah, and a great slaughter in the land of Idumea. That's Edom.
Idomene is the Greek form of it.
And the Unicorn shall come down with them, and the bullocks with the bulls, and their land shall be soaked with blood, and their dust made fat with fatness. For it is the day of the Lord's vengeance, and the day of recompenses for the controversy of Zion. And the streams thereof shall be turned into pitch, and the dust thereof into brimstone, And the land thereof shall become burning pitch. It shall not be quenched night nor day. The smoke thereof shall go up forever from generation to generation. It shall lie waste. None shall pass through it forever and ever.
Now this is the verse that has those two Hebrew words. They don't. They're not translated in our King James the same way they are in Mr. Darby's translation.
But the cormorant and the bitterness shall possess it, the owl also, and the Raven shall dwell in it, and he shall stretch out upon it the line of confusion. Now that's that first word. Tell who that's translated without form in the King James, translated waste in Mr. Darby's translation. Stretch out upon it the line of waste. And on the 4th day God set the sun, the moon, the stars, with respect to earth, where they are today.
God set them in the firmament of the heaven to give.
Light upon the earth to rule over the day and over the night to divide the light from the darkness. Now that's what God was doing on day one and two and three. He was the one that did that. Now He assigns that function to the to the sun and the moon.
You may have another way of interpreting that.
But you still have to face the fact that they were not in place until the 4th day.
The evening in the morning were the 4th day.
Well, the time has passed and I didn't even get through the first chapter.
Young people.
Saints of God, it's not necessarily a young people's meeting.
This book.
Our our responsibility is to interpret it.
By the Spirit of God.
Not by pseudoscience. Do not let what the scientists tell you to influence your understanding of what God has given us.
We're all we're all apartment to make mistakes, to err from interpreting.
It's very important to rightly divide the word of truth.
I trust that what has been presented is according to.
The Word of God. One thing I'm very certain of.
And that is that verse 2 does not describe the earth as originally created from God.
Says the earth was without form and void in Genesis 19. We won't turn to it, but it says.
Watts wife looked back.
And she became.
Pillar of Solomon that word became in the Hebrew, it's exactly the same word that's translated was in verse 2. The earth became or was became without form and boy, it's not the way it was originally created and God reformed it for man and that that 6th day when he created Adam, when he created Adam and the male and the female, how they come? How did they come about?
They had to come about at exactly the same time.
In order that the race could be continued.
00:30:01
Evolution can't work. You don't have to be a genius to see that.
The youngest child in the room could see it, see the ridiculousness of that theory. I shouldn't call it a theory.
Hypothesis. No. And hypothesis is an educated guess. And that's not even an educated guess. It's nonsense. Absolute nonsense. If you've had any thoughts that evolution has any credibility, I hope that I've destroyed those thoughts because they're wrong.
They're wrong. Test everything. Test everything by this book. You won't go wrong, but interpret it.
By the Spirit of God in subjection to him.
Let's pray.
