As “brass” is a compound, it is probable that copper is the metal often alluded to in scripture. See
Deuteronomy 8:9

A land wherein thou shalt eat bread without scarceness, thou shalt not lack any thing in it; a land whose stones are iron, and out of whose hills thou mayest dig brass. (Deuteronomy 8:9)
. In some cases it may be “bronze,” as it is known that this was in use in ancient Egypt. The Hebrew word
nechosheth
is translated “copper” in
Ezra 8:27

Also twenty basons of gold, of a thousand drams; and two vessels of fine copper, precious as gold. (Ezra 8:27)
, where it is said to be “precious as gold.” Brass is used as a symbol for righteousness according to the claims of God upon man, as in the brazen altar; the Lord as seen in the vision in the Revelation has feet like fine brass, “burning as in a furnace:” that is, righteous judgment according to responsibility (
Rev. 1:15
