1. 2. A people called “the children of Eden,” dwelling in Thelasar, or Telassar, which had been conquered by Assyria. They supplied Tyre with costly fabrics (2 Kings 19:12¹²Have the gods of the nations delivered them which my fathers have destroyed; as Gozan, and Haran, and Rezeph, and the children of Eden which were in Thelasar? (2 Kings 19:12); Isa. 37:12¹²Have the gods of the nations delivered them which my fathers have destroyed, as Gozan, and Haran, and Rezeph, and the children of Eden which were in Telassar? (Isaiah 37:12); Ezek. 27:23²³Haran, and Canneh, and Eden, the merchants of Sheba, Asshur, and Chilmad, were thy merchants. (Ezekiel 27:23)). Its locality is not known.

3. HOUSE OF EDEN or BETH-EDEN (Amos 1:5⁵I will break also the bar of Damascus, and cut off the inhabitant from the plain of Aven, and him that holdeth the sceptre from the house of Eden: and the people of Syria shall go into captivity unto Kir, saith the Lord. (Amos 1:5)). Apparently a residence of the kings of Damascus, probably situated in some pleasant place.
