(burden). (1) Nephew of David (2 Sam. 17:25²⁵And Absalom made Amasa captain of the host instead of Joab: which Amasa was a man's son, whose name was Ithra an Israelite, that went in to Abigail the daughter of Nahash, sister to Zeruiah Joab's mother. (2 Samuel 17:25)). Rebelled with Absalom, and defeated by Joab (2 Sam. 18:6⁶So the people went out into the field against Israel: and the battle was in the wood of Ephraim; (2 Samuel 18:6)). Reconciled to David (2 Sam. 19:13¹³And say ye to Amasa, Art thou not of my bone, and of my flesh?
