A Stone of Memorial

O Lord, I remember the day that I came,
All wearied and wounded to Thee;
My heart was bowed down with its sin and its shame;
But Thou spakest so kindly to me:
Oh, I ne'er shall forget Thy sweet accents of love,
Nor the mercy that beamed in Thy face,
When Thy pitiful kindness my load did remove,
And assured me of welcome and grace.

Lord, I remember the peace that I felt
When my pardon I read in Thy blood;
How my heart with the sweetest contrition did melt
In the arms of Thy Father, my God:
All the darkness was gone, all my terrors were o'er
As I saw all His glory in Thee;
And He promised my sins He'd remember no more,
But my God and my Father would be.

O Lord, I'd remember, each day that I live,
The grace that has made me Thine own;
To Thee, with myself, all I have would I give,
And live for Thy glory alone:
I'd remember, each step of my journey below,
Thou didst die for my sins on the tree;
But how can I ever express all I owe,
My Lord and my Savior, to Thee?
