Once when C. H. Spurgeon, the great evangelist, was to preach in Crystal Palace, he went to the Palace earlier in the day to try out the acoustics of the place. Having to say something, he said something worth saying: “Behold the Lamb of God which taketh away the sin of the world.” John 1:2929The next day John seeth Jesus coming unto him, and saith, Behold the Lamb of God, which taketh away the sin of the world. (John 1:29).
A workman busy in one of the galleries heard the words that seemed to come to him from heaven, and smitten with conviction of sin, he put down his tools and went home. He did not rest until he was able to rejoice in Christ as his Saviour.
