Is He really God? "
There is no doubt as to the answer to this question. "Christ... is over all, GOD blessed forever."1 There are three chapters, among others, in the Bible which clearly prove that Jesus was and is divine—that He is GOD.
(1) In John 1 we are told that He was "in the beginning," that He was "with God," and that He "was God." Nothing can be clearer than, "The Word was God." The passage also says that "all things were made by Him."
(2) Col. 1 also tells us that the Lord Jesus created all things, and again in chapter 2 That "in Him dwelleth all the fullness of the Godhead bodily."
(3) Heb. 1, again, says that He made the worlds and that He upholds all things by the word of His power.
If there were no other passages, these three scriptures plainly show that JESUS is the CREATOR. The Creator is GOD. But there are other scriptures. In speaking to the Jews, the Lord Jesus used a Name as to Himself which could only rightly bb used of God. He said, "Before Abraham was, I AM, "2 The Jews well knew what He meant, and took up stones to stone Him.
The Old Testament tells that Christ was to be Immanuel, that is, "God with us,"3 and in Matt. 1 we read that Jesus was Immanuel. Micah says that His "goings forth have been from of old, from everlasting,"4 and Zechariah speaks of Him as Jehovah's Fellow.5 We also read that of old He "laid the foundation of the earth,"6 and the heavens were "the work of His hands," and again in the same book, He is addressed as God.7 Yes! Jesus is "THE MIGHTY GOD." 8
