584. The Bath

Listen from:
Ezekiel 45:10. Ye shall have just balances, and a just ephah, and a just bath.
The bath was a measure of liquids, such as wine and oil, and was of the same capacity as the ephah in dry measure. See note on Exodus 16:36 (#125). It is supposed to have contained nearly nine gallons. It is referred to also in Isaiah 5:10. The “measures,” mentioned in Luke 16:6, are baths.
See also note on John 2:6 (#792).
