“A Lover of Truth.” We have, in one of our earlier numbers, gone into the subject of women speaking or teaching in public. We believe the teaching of the New Testament is distinctly against it. Whatever is meant in
Acts 21:9,

And the same man had four daughters, virgins, which did prophesy. (Acts 21:9)
and
1 Cor. 11:5,
5
But every woman that prayeth or prophesieth with her head uncovered dishonoreth her head: for that is even all one as if she were shaven. (1 Corinthians 11:5)
it is impossible they can contradict
1 Cor. 14:34,
34
Let your women keep silence in the churches: for it is not permitted unto them to speak; but they are commanded to be under obedience, as also saith the law. (1 Corinthians 14:34)
and 1 Tim, 2: 11, 12. These latter are plain and positive, and admit of no question whatever. The former may present difficulties when you come to apply them; but Scripture cannot gainsay Scripture.
