It was customary for subjugated kings to throw off the yoke of their oppressors just as soon as there was a change of reign (2 Kings 3:4-5). The politically-minded man sees nothing more than this in this rebellion of Moab, while the believer recognizes God’s hand in chastening or in judgment therein.
