The Apostle guards against this abuse of Christian love, and of the just intimacy and confidence which ought to exist between brethren; but which, on the contrary, was a motive for the servant to render all honor to his master, by treating him with more love and with the same respect. (1 Timothy 6 by J.N. Darby)
Any lack in this proper respect would be an attempt on the part of the slave to use Christianity to raise his social position, thus seeking his own worldly advantage. In the Assembly the slave and the Master were on common ground, equal before the Lord. There, indeed, the slave might by reason of his spirituality, or gift, be more prominent than his earthly master. (Warnings Against Pride of the Flesh and Instruction in Piety: 1 Timothy 6 by H. Smith)

J. N. Darby Translation

+
2
And they that have believing mastersf, let them not despise them because they are brethren; but let them the rather serve them with subjection, because they are faithfula and beloved, who profit by the good and ready service rendered. These things teach and exhort.

JND Translation Notes

W. Kelly Translation

+
2
And they that have believing masters let them not despise [them] because they are brethren, but the more let them serve, becausea they that partake of the good service are faithful and beloved. Theseb things teach and exhort.

WK Translation Notes

+
a
Or, "they that partake in (or profit by) the good service are believing and beloved."
b
This last sentence of the verse should be taken as an unbroken context; and as the denunciatory warning to the exhortation just concluded.
