We continue our study of First and Second Corinthians. In chapter 12, Paul teaches how the Spirit of God moves in and among the body of Christ in order that it might function effectively. The importance of each member of the body is presented at the same time that Paul reminds us that what affects one member of Christ’s body has an effect on the whole body.
In Christ there is no longer a distinction between Jew and Gentile, free or slave. All are partakers of the same Spirit and by that same Spirit have been baptized into the body of Christ.
There are many different kinds of gifts which God has set in the body of Christ that it might be blessed and function together for the glory of God. But even though one might have been given as an apostle or have been given a special gift of healing, there was something more wonderful than all of these gifts of God for the blessing of the body: that greater thing is divine love.
