| Many have sacrificed much in order to continue to enjoy the many fragile freedoms guaranteed by the U.S. Constitution. There is an even more important freedom — freedom from sin. Sin, disobedience to God, earns death. “The wages of sin is death” (Romans 6:23). But “Christ also hath loved us, and hath given Himself for us an offering and a sacrifice to God” (Ephesians 5:2). He can deliver us from the power of sin both now and forever. He has “the keys of hell and of death” (Revelation 1:18) to lock in or lock out forever. No religiousness, spirituality or “goodness” will wipe out a single act of sin. Only “the blood of Jesus Christ His Son cleanseth us from all sin” (1 John 1:7). His perfect sacrifice can make us forever free. To receive it, we must admit to being powerless sinners in need of His mercy. Then, “if the Son therefore shall make you free, ye shall be free indeed” (John 8:36). |
